Kathmandu: The Election Commission has adopted a policy to maximize the use of domestically produced materials for the upcoming House of Representatives elections, aiming to make the process economical, transparent, and supportive of local production.

According to Commission spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, a total of 51 types of materials will be used in the elections. Of these, 37 items are being procured in a decentralized manner through provincial and district levels, while 14 items will be purchased at the central level.

Most of the central-level procurement has been entrusted to Salt Trading Company under the government-to-government (G2G) model. Bhattarai said that only new materials worth Rs 67.5 million have been purchased, while previously used materials have been reused to reduce costs.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission has completed the processes of candidate nomination, objection to claims, and allocation of election symbols for the elections scheduled for Falgun 21.
